Atletico Madrid defender José Giménez has expressed his love for Chelsea and also wished to have played with Frank Lampard during his career
Giménez was recently involved in a talk show with his Atletico teammates Héctor Herrera and Santiago Arias that aired on La Liga’s official YouTube channel recently.
During the 35-minute long session, Giménez was asked which retired player he would have loved to play with.
Gimenez replied that he admired Frank Lampard during his playing days at Chelsea and spoke candidly about his love for the Blues.
“When I was kid Lampard was a player I liked to watch, the Premier League aired early morning in Uruguay and Chelsea were the team that I always enjoyed to watch” said the Uruguayan.
Chelsea fans definitely liked what they heard from Giménez with the hopes of seeing the defender at Stamford Bridge for the upcoming campaign.
The video comes amid growing interest in the Atletico Madrid star from the Blues as they aim to bolster their defence after conceding 54 goals in the recently concluded Premier League season.
To land Giménez at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea will have to break the banks and meet the £109m release clause that has been slapped on the back of the 25-year-old defender.
Given their good relations with the Spanish Side, Chelsea will look to negotiate the price and hope for the best.
