Since his move to Manchester United in the summer of 2020, Donny van de Beek certainly endured his time at the club with the lack of game time. Now away on loan at Everton, the Dutch international looks to have found a new lease of life as a footballer.
Having played just two games so far for the Toffees, Van de Beek has already been impressing folks at his new club. Manager Frank Lampard was full of praise for the club’s new recruit who ran the show from midfield during Everton’s imposing 3-0 win over Leeds on Saturday.
Van de Beek started the game and completed the full 90 minutes, averaging a passing accuracy of 87.5% and earning himself a match rating of 7.23, according to whoscored.com. In contrast, the Dutch international had only completed the 90 minutes on just 9 occasions during his two and a half years in Manchester.
Saturday’s performance ensured that van de Beek won over the support of the Goodison faithful and a few of them have a catchy chant in place already for the young midfielder.
Based on the hit number ‘Mr. Saxobeat’ by Romanian singer Alexandra Stan – with a little bit of tweaking – a classic party anthem is now a van de Beek chant.
“You make me dance
Bring me up
Bring me down
Play it sweet
Make me move like a freak
Donny van de Beek”

The lyrics perhaps do capture the way Everton fans feel watching the young midfielder play and play with joy once again in his footballing career.
They say falling in love with a loaned player is a dangerous game that does not always end well. But for now, this new chant awaits more impressive performances from the Everton man.
