If ever there was a video that resonated with the term ‘peak Scottish football‘, it would be the clipping shown below.

Scottish League One outfit Dumbarton had to suffer the ultimate blushes when their goalkeeper Sam Ramsbottom belted a shot against the back of his own defender Ryan McGeever and the rebound took the ball inside his own net to gift Forfar Athletic all three points.

What makes this sequence of events even more pitifully interesting is the fact that it was the first game back for all the League One sides after a 3-month winter break, with goalkeeper Ramsbottom playing his debut match for Dumbarton.

Robert Lewandowski scored a 22-minute hat-trick a few hours ago but the absolute desperation of the keeper running back and the sheer joy of happiness on the Forfar Athletic centre-forward’s face caps off what must be the best footballing moment of the day.
