Video: Mustafi scores “outrageous” bicycle kick goal in preparation for the Europa League Final

Mustafi hasn’t had the best of seasons this season. After under-performing in many games, the German defender has always been under the scrutiny with the Arsenal fans.

However, the preparation for the Europa League final has shown us another side of Mustafi. Look at that sumptuous bicycle kick. What a clean finish!

The hype was real among Arsenal fans:

“Absolutely mental, sell Aubameyang and put Mustafi as striker” says one Arsenal fan

“Statue needed beside Bergkamp,” adds another fan referring to the statue present outside the Emirates.

“Went 20 games unbeaten. Statue for him would do.” seems like many of the fans are hoping Mustafi gets a statue!

There were a few concerned fans too:

“This was defensive training? What is he doing? He’s clearly meant to clear it!” says a concerned fan

Fans surely see the funny side of it but all will hope that Mustafi manages to have a good game and stabilize the defence for the final.

The Gunners have conceded 51 goals this season in the Premier League and 67 overall which is not a good sign but they have a chance to save their season on Wednesday.

They take on Chelsea in the Europa League final and a win would not only add silverware but also guarantee a spot in the Champions League next season.

Arsenal fans are taking Mkhitaryan’s Europa League final absence out on Kim Kardashian

Keeping up with the Armenians?

Arsenal fans have called out Kim Kardashian and labelled her a “disgrace”.

The comments come have after Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan had officially announced that he will not travel with the Arsenal squad for the UEFA Europa League final in Baku.

Kim Kardashian is of Armenian descent and last visited the country in 2015. The fans are furious and have lashed out at the media personality who is currently pursuing a career in law.

The political tension between Azerbaijan and Armenia have led to the Arsenal play-maker missing out on the final.

Nagorno-Karabakh is the region that both countries are fighting for. The factors are both territorial and ethnic. Hence, Mkhitaryan travelling to Azerbaijan would be a huge security concern.

Arsenal fans are still hoping that via Kim Kardashian and her social media following, the venue might be changed. Majority of the fans however are furious that Kim isn’t using her influence over the matter. Some however, see the funny side of it.

“Lmfao I’m sure Kim Kardashian is very attentive to all things involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan and his fight to play in a competition she’s probably never heard of in a sport she probably doesn’t care about 9,000 miles away”

— Pelusa (@LaReinaMerengue)

Arsenal players and their views on the matter

The players are understandably furious over the matter. Club captain Laurent Koscielny spoke against UEFA for their choice of the venue. Mustafi says it’s a “shame” that Henrikh Mkhitaryan will not be able to play the final.

When one country has a political problem with another then UEFA shouldn’t give the final to that country.

We want Mkhi with us because he is an important player for Arsenal. But we know about the problems and if he thinks he can’t be safe it’s better for him to stay here.

This final is very far for the fans of both teams and it’s difficult and very expensive to travel to Baku. We will play the game but it’s not the final we dreamed of.”

Laurent Koscielny, club captain of Arsenal also expressed his views.

Aubameyang drops the F-bomb on Arsenal teammate after training ground match

Recently, Greek international and Arsenal centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos took to Instagram to post a picture of him and the teammates after a training match while preparing for the Europa League final.

The post featured his teammates posing for a picture. Sokratis took a dig at teammate Aubameyang in the caption to the photo.

He condescendingly said that he ‘let’ Aubameyang be in the picture even after losing the match.

Continuing the banter, Aubemayang hit back with another comment of his own. He wondered why Sokratis liked the photo, because just one minute before the photo was taken, Sokratis was ‘on the ground, screaming like a b****’.

Sokratis went on to say that while he had pain, he still managed to win. Aubameyang retorted with a ‘f*** off’ followed by a lot of laughing emojis.

The post shows the high spirits and friendliness prevalent in the team.

Arsenal are gearing up for their Europa Cup Final against Chelsea on the 30th of May.

Aubameyang, in particular, will be raring to play and end a fantastic season in high note after he won the Golden boot award alongside Liverpool duo Salah and Mane.

Ever since his move from Borussia Dortmund, he has been one of Arsenal’s star performers.

Sokratis at the back too has had a decent season as Unai Emery’s men look to redeem themselves with their only shot at winning silverware this season by defeating Chelsea.

Arsenal kits for next season are so good even rival fans are gushing over it

Adidas is back as the Arsenal kit supplier and they have made their comeback with a retro setup.

The deal between Adidas and Arsenal has promisingly gone off to a very bright start as image of the new kits have leaked online and along with the Gunners, rival fans are going crazy about them! The deal will be worth around £300 million over five years.

Strike partners Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette can be seen modelling the new kits below:

Spurs being Arsenal’s biggest rivals finally admit to something positive about Arsenal…

The kit gives Liverpool fans a nostalgic feeling as Adidas sponsored Liverpool from 1985-96 and 2006-12 –

Back down memory lane

The new deal announced in October of 2018 sparked a huge excitement in fans as it was taking them down memory lane.

Adidas were the Arsenal kit supplier from 1986-1994. The home kit features a red torso, white and red sleeves with the classic three stripes on the shoulders being white in colour.

The collar of the home kit features a red and white combo which pays homage to the home kits worn at the end of the 1980’s.

The away kit visits the past with a corn yellow colour which is a classic favourite among the Arsenal fans.

We can almost picture the classic JVC sponsored kit with the new design of the away kit. A series of faded blue stripes are on the kit too with the iconic stripes on the shoulder being navy blue.

The wait will have to be a bit longer in-order to purchase the kits. The 5 year deal between Puma and Adidas will come to an end on June 30th.

Rumors claim that Arsenal will receive double the amount from what they were earning from Puma. Arsenal are now joint 2nd with Chelsea in terms of earnings as they will both receive £60m annually. Chelsea signed a 15-year deal with Nike from 2017-32. Manchester United still lead the earnings and look to stay there as their deal with Adidas is worth £75m.

Lacazette’s inspired performance against Valencia leaves Umtiti and Griezmann awestruck

Sometimes in football, there are events that cause the footballing community to just stop and admire. Appreciate the the beauty that has unfolded in front of their eyes. Gobsmacking goals, astounding assists or just all-round unstoppable performances: when the world is witness to these, the best thing one can do is applaud and feel honored.

One such performance comes from Arsenal front-man Alexandre Lacazette, who was influential in the Gunners’ 3-1 home-leg win against Valencia in the Europa League semi-finals.

Arsenal required an inspired Lacazette showing to dig them out of trouble as they conceded an away goal to Valencia just after ten minutes. Lacazette single-handedly turned the tie on its head just fifteen minutes after the Valencia goal, helping Arsenal to a 2-1 half-time lead thanks to a brace from the Frenchman.

His first came from a counter-attack that was started and finished by him. Driving into the opposition half, Laca released Aubameyang with a perfectly weighted pass, before Auba cut back the ball for the Frenchman, who continued his run to pass the ball into a virtually open net.

His second came from a cross from Granit Xhaka. Having peeled off his marker, Lacazette headed the ball into the ground and it crossed the line after being pushed onto the post. Arsenal dominated the game for the most part and took a big stride towards the final after an Aubameyang goal late in the game sealing a 3-1 win.

Lacazette’s stellar performance was well received by the football community and particularly by Arsenal fans and drew rapturous responses from compatriots from Samuel Umtiti and Antoine Griezmann.

The Barca center-back and Atletico Madrid front-man were amazed by what they witnessed and they posted their responses on Twitter, using emoji’s to convey their appreciation for their compatriot, who ran the show the Gunners on the night.

Arsenal will be hoping for more stellar performances from their main man as they push for silverware and a CL place in the final stages of the league. Is Alex Lacazette the most under-rated striker in the Premier League?

Piers Morgan’s tweet on Game of Thrones backfires when reminded of his association with Arsenal

Mid-April saw the arrival of the famous TV series Game of Thrones (GoT) come back for its final season. The first episode of season 8 aired on the 15th of April, with the fan-following (which is a huge chunk of the TV viewing world) eagerly waiting for the climax of the show that kept them asking for more since day one.

With regards to the show, there are two kinds of people: one kind, is head over heels with the show and needs a regular dose of it to get through their lives. The other kind, however, couldn’t care less about it and the hype it generates. English broadcaster and TV personality Piers Morgan falls into the latter.

Morgan, who is an Arsenal fan, is well known for his criticism of Arsenal (especially Wenger) and his passionate comments on Arsenal. And while the GoT community were losing their minds on the aftermath of the most anticipated episode, “The Battle of Winterfell”, Piers expressed his thoughts on the show on Twitter. He tweeted saying that he finds it a waste of time and energy to watch GoT.

And since it is in social media’s nature to fire back in kind, Morgan’s comments did not go under the radar. Actor and internet personality Gavin Free responded to Morgan’s tweet saying that despite him finding GoT a waste of energy, Morgan still watches Arsenal play football.

And while Morgan’s comments on GoT backfired in the most hilarious way, it does bring to light a bigger question: Are Arsenal really that bad to watch as implied by Gavin’s response? If so, what must they do to make for better viewing?

The bizarre pre-match ritual being employed at Arsenal currently

If you ask footballers if they’ve got any pre-match rituals or any superstitions that they heed to, it’s a good chance that a fair share of them will answer yes. Most of these are born out of habit, some out of chance, and the rest have more of a personal reason behind it.

Be it wearing your cleats in a particular order or being the last person to enter the field before kick-off, and countless more practices, superstitions and rituals are truly a part of the game.

Speaking of rituals, we introduce you to one that came to light recently at Arsenal – thanks to an article by journalist John Cross on Mirror‘s official site.

After working wonders with a few key buys in the summer and making the best out of the squad left behind by Wenger, Unai Emery has made Arsenal a force to be reckoned with this season.

With the capacity to outplay big teams with fluidic football and exhilarate fans, Arsenal’s home form was the one of the best in the league, with 10 wins on the trot leading up to the game against Palace.

All that changed when Palace registered a 3-2 win at the Emirates, which then cascaded into three back-to-back defeats for the Arsenal.

Incidentally, it was at this home game that the bizarre “ritual” came under flak. So it goes like this: Before the game, Emery asks a member of the club staff to conduct a pre-match huddle to pump the boys up. And the motivator does not stay the same, as Emery has rotated this role as well along with his squad.

The idea behind this is to make everyone at the club to be involved in the footballing aspect.

The ritual hasn’t worked in the last three games, as Arsenal suffered defeat at home to Palace(2-3) and away defeats at Wolves(3-1) and Leicester(3-0).

Arsenal’s mesmerizing home run was marred, their away form hasn’t been inspiring, and the ritual does not seem to be working. Additionally, it’s the first time that Arsenal have conceded 3 goals in 3 league games for the first time in the history. Dark arts at play here?

Having a club member conduct the pre-match pep talk is bizarre, and hasn’t been working wonders of late, as Arsenal compete with Chelsea Spurs and United for top 4.

Was Arsenal’s poor run of results just a coincidence with their odd ritual, or were there other forces at play here? Regardless, the Gunners will be hoping for better things to come as the season comes to a close and the race for top 4 intensifying.

Celebrity YouTuber publicly gives up on Arsenal after humiliating Leicester City defeat

Arsenal travelled to the King Power stadium as Unai Emery made three changes with Sead Kolasinac, Shkodran Mustafi and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang coming in the XI for the injured duo of Mesut Özil and Nacho Monreal, and an unfit Laurent Koscielny.

Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester went into the game with a single change from their previous outing, with Hamza Choudhury replacing Demarai Gray. Jamie Vardy, who has been in brilliant form under Rodgers in recent games, led the line.

Leicester looked dangerous from the beginning and enjoyed possession and created more chances. Arsenal looked to break on the counter, but things got worse for the Gunners in the 35th minute when a rather cynical tackle on Maddison – who was proving to be quite a nuisance for the Arsenal defence – earned Ainsley Maitland-Niles a second yellow card, resulting in him getting sent off.

The first half ended with Leicester having most of the possession, shots, and shots on target. The home side finally broke the deadlock in the 59th minute through Youri Tielemans, and never looked back, with two late goals from Jamie Vardy sealing the three points.

Arsenal’s loss to Leicester triggers celebrity fan

The dismal performance against Leicester showed a lack of faith and drive to be committed come the end of the season, and that sent celebrity fan KSIOlajideBT, better known as KSI, into a meltdown on Twitter, writing “I’m sick of being an Arsenal fan. Cba with this club”.

Arsenal would now be hoping to improve upon their record, having lost four of their last five Premier League matches, while Leicester will be looking towards catching up to Wolves at the 7th spot.

Ozil and Lacazette warcry before Wolves clash was exactly what the Arsenal fans needed

It’s that time of the year again. The Premier League season is coming to a close and fixtures come in thick and fast. Teams up top are fighting for the title, and some are battling it out for the European spots. Clubs down at the bottom are fighting to avoid relegation, while others fight for pride. The 2018-19 season is almost done and dusted, and the race at the top could not be any tighter than this.

While there are only two contenders for the title; them being Manchester City and Liverpool (the Reds lead by 2 points, with City having a game in hand), it’s the battle for the 3rd and 4th that is stealing the headlines of late. With Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United competing for the last two top 4 spots, every game is a cup final for the quartet.

At the end of the latest match-week, Spurs sit in third with 67 points, with Chelsea in fourth with the same points and a lower goal difference. Arsenal occupy the fifth spot with 66 points and United complete the top 6 with 64 points. The Blues have played one game more, while the rest in contention have 4 games remaining.

The latest round of games saw all these clubs drop points, with Spurs losing to City, United getting demolished at Everton, Chelsea drawing at home to Burnley and Arsenal losing at home to Palace. With all four clubs not making any headway, the door is still wide open for the CL spots.

After their defeat, Arsenal players Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette took to Twitter to reassure the fans that there is still all to play for till the end of the season. Their messages to the fans have reinvigorated their belief of a top 4 finish, showing that they are ready to take on the challenge together; that they are determined to give the fans the opportunity to see the Gunners amongst Europe’s elite.

It’s exactly the tonic that the fans needed before Wolves game after the loss to Palace seemed to have dented their aspirations.

It sets the tone for the final four games of the season, leaving fans and neutrals salivating over a grand-stand finish.

With the run-in looking intense and with four clubs battling it out till the death for CL hopes, will Arsenal finish in the top four? If indeed they do, would it be considered a successful season for PL managerial debutant Unai Emery?

Arsenal fans claim media bias after Tottenham’s woeful away record comes to the fore

Arsenal versus Tottenham. It’s an age-old battle that never ceases to disappoint. The hatred that both sets of fans have for each other is tangible, and given the history that these two clubs share, it is understandable. And to add fuel to the fire, the recent debate of a “power shift” in North London has just set up a media battle for the ages.

Ever since Pochettino took over as the manager for Spurs, things have been positive for them, with the team performing consistently under the Argentine. But, with no trophies to show for all the good things going on at Spurs, Pochettino is yet to prove himself. This season especially, Poch has defied all odds, guiding Spurs to the semi-finals of the Champions League and looking solid to secure top 4 in the league, considering they were the only team not to sign any player in the summer.

For Arsenal, however, ever since their move to the Emirates, things haven’t looked as promising as the fans would’ve imagined. In that time, the Gunners have failed to win the Premier League and their performances against the big clubs in the league and in Europe have been uninspiring. Arsenal are a pretty good team at home, but it’s their away form that raises eyebrows. In recent seasons, their away form has been abysmal, to say the least, going away and returning bruised and fruitless.

It is this run of bad away days for the Arsenal, that has brought them into the spotlight, for all the wrong reasons. It has been the talk of the town in recent seasons, under the WengEra and currently, under Unai Emery. The Gunners have lost 6 and drawn 4 away this season, out of 16 away trips in the league, which is not the best, but not as bad as last season’s 11 losses and 4 draws away from home.

This is something that is close to the Gooners, who feel hard done by when their club is shown in a bad light when talking about away form. What infuriates them more is the media considering Spurs (or any other team for that matter), to be flawless. Stats show that Tottenham too have a poor away record since the turn of the year. But with far fewer people talking about it, Arsenal fans sense a media bias with regard to Spurs’ away record, which is not too different from the Gunners’.

Given Arsenal’s and Tottenham’s away records, is there really a media bias towards Spurs?

Video: The new “Allez” chant from Arsenal fans made its debut during Napoli win

A lot of aspects define the way the result of a game of football tips. The most common ones are quite predictable – the quality of the players in a team, the chemistry between them, the manager’s tactics on display and the confidence of the team going into the game.

While all these factors directly influence the game, there is another factor that is ever-present and often decides the fate of a game – the fans.

When a club has fans that are charged up, vociferous, and ready to take on the world, that energy is channelled into the team. It drives them to achieve greater heights, gives them purpose and instills a feeling of invincibility.

Ironic cheers for mistakes from the opposition, flags and banners showcasing their support, pyrotechnics on display to taunt the opposition, sticking by the team till the end of the game; these are some methods that keep the team going. But the most effective one of them all is chants from the 12th Man, that pour in all throughout the game.

With the entire support singing in one voice, supporting individual players and the team alike, intimidating the opponents and just purely entertaining to listen to or be a part of – chants are at the top of the list of things that fire the team up.

A new chant that made its debut recently was Arsenal fans’ variation of the ‘Allez’ chant, made famous by Liverpool fans. Excellently modified to suit the Gunners, the chant came into being when Arsenal hosted Napoli in the Europa League quarter-final.

Arsenal ran away as 2-0 winners, and this chant is sure to have played its part in firing up the Arsenal players and keeping the fans and players engaged.

Lyrically a masterpiece, reactions to this chant are all over the place, with Liverpool fans not impressed with the Gooners’ adaptation of their famous chant; while Arsenal fans are buzzing at the catchiness of their new song. For the neutrals though, it is the talk of the town.

Arsenal fans will not care about other opinions on their version of ‘Allez’, with the rendition featuring in what was a massive statement by Arsenal in their search for silverware, dominating Napoli in the first leg.

With a tough trip awaiting the Gunners, the fans will be hoping their new chant will assist their club as the ‘gun’ for glory –

Arsenal show class by arranging dinner for opponents Napoli ahead of Europa League quarters

Away from all the physicality, nerves, injuries, delight, agony, goals, thrills and spills in a game of football, there’s a whole other side to it that we don’t get to see much of. A heart-warming side, which occurs off the pitch.

Be it charity work, participating in social campaigns, visiting hospitals to make disabled fans happy, team-building sessions, collaborations with stars from another sport and more – all these contribute to a plethora of special moments that frankly, the football community needs more of.

A couple of months ago, Arsenal’s departing ‘keeper Petr Cech treated the Arsenal women’s team to dinner to congratulate them on their successful season.

A very classy moment from Cech indeed.  In more recent news, Napoli’s official Twitter page posted pictures of a dinner hosted by the Arsenal on the eve of their quarter-final clash in the Europa League at the Emirates. The caption went, “Tonight’s dinner with our friends from Arsenal!”

Brilliant bit of hospitality from Arsenal!

After this was tweeted, the comment section went wild with replies related to various topics. The list is quite overwhelming.

Fans were not hesitant to remind us of the infamous “Lasagnagate” in the 05/06 season, where conspiracy theories suggested Arsenal were involved in Spurs’ ill health from suspected food poisoning (from lasagna) and the resulting capitulation on the final day of the season, securing CL football at Tottenham’s expense. Their first reaction was to ask if the Napoli players were served lasagna.

Other fans went on to praise the pure class, respect, hospitality and sportsmanship displayed by Arsenal. Some were also crazy enough to relate it to the “Red Wedding” sequence from the famous show, “Game of Thrones” (if you know, you know)!

Regardless of the reactions of the fans on Twitter, it must be said that it was a touch of class and very respectful from Arsenal to host a dinner for the Napoli players; to get to know them personally and make things comfortable for them ahead of their clash in the Europa League. It shows that there’s more to football than what goes on on the pitch.

Watch: Spurs fans reveal belter of a new chant trolling Arsenal after Man City win

It was Spurs who came out on top in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie vs Manchester City. Spurs won the game one-nil thanks to a 78-minute strike from Heung-Min Son who continues to add his name to the Tottenham folklore by scoring the first ever Champions League goal in Tottenham’s new Stadium.

Hugo Lloris did his bit by saving a Sergio Aguero penalty which was awarded after a VAR decision was made that deemed Danny Rose guilty of a handball while sliding to block a Raheem Sterling shot.

There was a major casualty for Spurs though as Harry Kane suffered an ankle injury that could rule him out for the rest of the season.

It was a great night for Tottenham Hotspur and to add the cherry on top, the supporters revealed a killer new chant to troll rivals Arsenal.

Tottenham and Arsenal have an intense rivalry and although the Gunners were not involved in this tie whatsoever, Spurs supporters still found a way to rub salt in their neighbor’s wounds.

Watch: Man United superfan Usain Bolt calls Arsenal ‘the best’ while wearing Gunners merchandise

World fastest man Usain Bolt is known to be a Manchester United fan through and through.

And the internet melted down last night when some fans spotted the Jamaican in arch-rival Arsenal’s colours.

Bolt, 32, is one of the most decorated athletes in the world and has won as many as 11 world championships before retiring in 2017.

But after retiring from athletics, the Jamaican went on to pursue his ambition of becoming a professional football player and to play for his dream club Manchester United one day.

He began his football training in Norway before moving to Australia to join A-League side Central Coast Mariners.

The Jamaican soon featured for the Mariners in friendly matches and scored a brace in his second appearance, prompting the New South Wales club to offer him a professional contract.

The contract, however, never realized and in November 2018, Bolt left Australia before eventually announcing his retirement last January.

For someone who went through all this after a phenomenal career in athletics just to realize the dream of playing for Manchester United, even thinking of wearing arch-rivals Arsenal’s shirt should be disastrous.

But in the viral video, the Jamaican can be seen doing exactly that.

He then even went on to kiss the Gunners badge and saying ‘Arsenal is the best’.

Have a look at the clip here –

It is most likely that the track legend has lost a wager with a friend and was forced to recite the words following Manchester United’s 2-0 defeat against the North London side.

And it was not the first time when the Jamaican was forced to a similar act.

Back in 2015, Bolt was forced to take a selfie in Arsenal colours after he lost a bet with avid Arsenal fan and TV presenter Patty Lopez de la Cerda.

Arsenal fans’ dislike for all things Tottenham was on full display after Aaron Ramsey’s goal

When it comes to dispute, there are two ways to go about it – All or Nothing.

Take the example of Hans Island, which is basically a large rock located in a wide channel of water separating Canada and Denmark. The island is contested over in a manner never seen before in terms of disputed territories. It all started when Canada left a bottle of Canadian Whiskey on the island and declared the territory. Denmark, in turn, responded by leaving a bottle a Peach Schnapps on the island and declaring the territory Danish. This is an example of the “Nothing” approach.

Exhibit B: The North London Derby – the hotly contested derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. The North London Derby has an almost Dennis-the-Menace kind of notoriety associated with it. The fixture has never been known to roll the Hans Island way, though.

Here is an example of the “All” approach –

As Aaron Ramsey scored his final derby goal for Arsenal in Saturday’s North London Derby at Wembley, the crowd erupted in a furor.

Arsenal fans went completely berserk as the Welshman breezed through the Spurs defense and rounded off Hugo Lloris to put the Gunners up in the 16th minute.

It was a moment that seemed to reverberate through the crowd of Arsenal fans. Pick any person from the sea of Arsenal supporters at that moment and anyone watching the derby for the first time would be forgiven if they thought that the place looked less like Wembley stadium and more like a warzone.

Arsenal fans’ disdain for the Lilywhites was evident as the sea of supporters rose with an adrenaline rush to jeer and throw jibes at the Spurs supporters.

The drama didn’t end there, however. Hugo Lloris turned savior in the dying minutes of the game as he saved a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang penalty.

The draw left Tottenham in 3rd place, effectively ending their hopes of a title challenge, but did provide some respite to Mauricio Pochettino’s men following two successive away defeats at Burnley and Chelsea.
